【即興ピアノって？？？】
What's "improvisation piano"?

さて、いきなりですが…ピアノを弾く、というとみなさんはどんなイメージをお持ちでしょうか？

What do you need to play the piano?

「楽譜が読めなくちゃいけないんでしょ？」という声をよく耳にします。
まあ確かに読めた方がいいかもしれませんね。

Do you have to read music?
Yes or no?
It depends.

でも…楽譜がある音楽って世界を見渡してみると案外少なかったりします。

As you know, there are many kinds of music around the world.A very few of them are 'sheet music'. Shortly,music without scores.

では楽譜のことを考えてみましょう。
今の時代、楽譜は紙やタブレットで見ることができますね。
それでは、紙やタブレットがなかった時代はどうしていたのでしょう？
さらには作曲して楽譜を書くひと（作曲家）がいなかった時代はどうしていたのでしょう？？

Now, let's think about 'sheet music'.
We have papers and iPad today so we can read music on them.
But people long long ago didn’t have them.
Moreover there might not have been any 'composers'.

洞窟で声を出して響くのがおもしろいなぁと思って歌っていたヒトたちがいたり、その辺に落ちていた石をパーカッションみたく叩いて音を出していたヒトたちもいたかもしれませんね。

There might have been people who enjoyed listening to echoes of their own voices in the caves or picked small stones and made sounds using them.

これが音楽の始まりだったのかもしれません。
だとしたら、楽譜などなしに音楽を自然に奏でていたことでしょう。
音楽の始まりの姿はまさに即興だったのでしょうね。
仲間や恋人に聴かせたのかもしれないし、みんなで音を出して遊んでいたかもしれないし、自分ひとりで音を出して楽しんでいたのかもしれないし…
音楽ってもとは演奏するのも聴くのもとても自由なものだったのでしょう。

This may be the birth of music.
People in acient times played music without any music scores.
The origin of music was a kind of improvisation,I suppose.
They played for their fellows and steadies or just for themselves.
Playing or listening to music was much more casual and free.

ピアノだってもっと自由に弾いてもいいと思います。
楽譜が苦手だったら自分で考えて弾いちゃえばいいんです、自分のテンポで自分のテクニックの範囲で。
音の出しやすい楽器ですからね。
そして、聴くときももっと自由に聴いてもいいんです。

So you can play the piano more freely!
Try to make your own sounds,harmornies and phrases on piano without any hesitation.

さあ、即興ピアノの世界をのぞいてみましょう。

Now,let's have a glance at the world of 'improvisation piano'!

では実際に即興ピアノを聴いてみましょう。

まずは【テーマ即興】（【タイトル付き即興】）から始めましょう。
テーマ即興、とはrumipianoでは「テーマやイメージを設定して弾いた即興」です。

『エイプリルフール』というタイトルで即興してみました。

「え、これがエイプリルフール？！」
"Is this April Fools' Day?!"
「そう言われればそんな感じ」
"I feel something like April Fools' Day in it…"
「ふ〜ん…」
"Hmm…"

などいろいろな感想を持ったり持たなかったりしたのではないでしょうか。
そう，どういう風に感じていただいてもいいのです。

次は【純粋即興】を聴いてみましょう。

Next,"Untitled Improvisation"---without any themes or images.

純粋即興、とはrumipianoの中では「テーマも何もない音に従って弾いたもの」です。
「え、なんにもないの？どう聴いたらいいの？」…心配いりません。そのまま音の流れを聴いているだけでいいですよ。

You can also imagine something or have fantasies from the succesion of the sounds.

では実際に即興ピアノってどうやって弾くのでしょう？
You may ask how to improvise on piano.

わたしの場合のお話をしましょう。
Here's my story.

小さい頃、家にヤマハのオルガンがありました。
スイッチを入れると「ビヨン」と音がしました。
幼稚園のときにはそのオルガンで適当に作った曲を弾いたり弾き歌いしていてようです。

I began to make music on electric organ(YAMAHA)when I was a kindergarten student.

ピアノを習い始めたのは8歳からでした。
楽譜を練習している時、「ほんとはこっちの音に行きたいんだよな」と思うことがよくありました。楽譜は「ミファソ」となっているけれど「ミファラ」って弾きたいなぁ…という感じでしょうか。
その頃の楽譜を見ると時々音を変えてあるところがあったりしました。

I started to take piano lessons at the age of 8.
When I practiced Beyer or Burgmuller,I sometimes changed notes on the music sheet into more cozy notes to me. The score said 'mi-fa-sol' but I wanted to play’mi-fa-la' for example.

「こう行きたいのにな…」と思う方向にどんどん進んでみたら即興になっていったような気がします。

I got absorbed in this 'activity'.
I came to play improvisations gradually.

自分の頭の中にある音楽を即座に鍵盤に移していくこともあれば、自分で出した音を聴きながら次々につないでいくこともあります。

 I have two ways to improvise.
Copying the music in my head on piano simultaneously,and seeking 'flow' by listening to the note or chord I make on piano. Each sound tells me what's coming next.

このような過程で何を使っているかというと、記憶なのかもしれません。
いろんな種類の音楽をたくさん聴いたり、好きな音楽をねっとり聴いたりするなかで、音のボキャブラリーが増えていって、そしてそれらを繋ぎ合わせて即興が出来ていくのではないかと思います。

In this procedure,I reconstruct "music vocabularies" in me.
I listen to various kinds of music as possible.
Reading books,appreciating fine arts,observing animals,looking at the night sky…all the experiences enforce the "vocabularies".And I reconstruct the "vocabularies" into improvisation.

その繋ぎ方（再構築の仕方）が「音楽的」であれば「即興」で、「音楽的」でなければ「デタラメ」ということになるのかもしれません。とは言え、その違いを明確にするのは難しいですね。その繋ぎ方が面白ければ「音楽的」なのかもしれませんね。

You may wonder what"musical"is or what "not musical" is.
I can't tell the difference clearly.
The key to find the answer to the questions Iies in the way how the memories are reconstructed to make music.

全部を即興するのはちょっとなぁ…と思った時は、アレンジしてみるのもいいかもしれません。イントロや間奏部分やエンディングに即興を入れてみると面白いです。
自分が好きな曲がイメージが素直に湧きやすくていいと思います。なるべくシンプルなメロディのものがいいかもしれません。

If you feel it hard to make your original from the beginning, why don't you arrange your favorite melody for piano?
I recommend you to choose a simple melody to inspire your musical imagination.

メロディに伴奏をつけて、間に好きなように即興を挟んでみるのも楽しいですね。

You can harmonize the melody and improvise for the introduction,intermission and ending.

次の二曲は鍵盤ハーモニカがメロディを吹いています。
ホースを口にくわえながらピアノを弾けばひとりでできます。

These two below are arrangements for keyboard harmonica(like Melodica by Honor in Germany).
I use Pianica by YAMAHA.
You can play both keyboard harmonica and piano alone at a time if you want.
